Three Youngsters Injured After Car Incident Outside A High School

Three juveniles were injured in a wreck near the Atlantic High School, Delray Beach Fire Rescue authorities and the Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The two-car crash happened on Atlantic Avenue by the entrance to the high school. At least two of the people injured in the wreck are students at the school, the Delray Beach police said.

A Toyota RAV4 was heading east on Atlantic and tried to turn left into the high school from the right lane, according to city police and the Florida Highway Patrol officials.

The SUV cut across the lanes and collided with a westbound Ford F-150, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The passenger in the SUV was trapped in the car and had to be extricated, rescue crews said. That person was taken as a trauma patient to Delray Medical Center.

The SUV driver was injured as well and taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

No one in the pickup was hurt.

Authorities as well as the Florida Highway Patrol officials are still investigating exactly what caused the crash. Although the Florida Highway Patrol officials said either drugs or alcohol may have been the cause of the crash.

Comments:

Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash.  “Be especially careful when entering a school zone. If you were involved in an accident due to someone else being distracted, call me for a free consultation so we can discuss your rights and what compensation you may be entitled to.”
