It was a sad day for pedestrians in the city, with five people critically injured by drivers in separate incidents, authorities said.
The predawn carnage began when a 24-year old, was fatally struck by a black SUV as he was leaving his brother’s 28th-birthday party relatives said.
The 24-year old was sitting in his car with other family members waiting for his son to leave the venue near Davie and Riviera Beach when, for some reason, he got out of the vehicle and was struck near the entrance to the West Palm Beach.
Also, an Uber driver was struck by a car while retrieving something from the back seat of his vehicle parked near Jensen Beach, Martin County, cops said. The Uber driver was rushed to a nearby hospital.
A 36-year-old woman was also clipped by a driver when she stepped in front of a minivan while trying to cross Vero Beach in Indian River County. She and a passenger in her vehicle was rushed to the Indian River County general hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.
Police say the causes of the crashes ate still under investigation.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
