The Florida Highway Patrol said at a news conference that a fiery crash that claimed the lives of three young people in St. Lucie County is still an open and active investigation.
Investigators say a 2004 GMC Yukon, driven by a 35-year-old man of Fort Pierce, crashed into the rear of a Dodge Dakota near Midway Road and S. 25th Street.
The Dakota burst into flames, killing three people inside.
Florida Highway Patrol said that once its investigation is complete, it will send that information to the State Attorney’s Office, which will decide if charges should be filed.
Another passenger in the Dodge Dakota, a 14-year-old Loretta Bruce, was rescued from the burning car and taken to the hospital.
Troopers said that they’re looking for the person who rescued Loretta.
FHP says, the driver who caused the deadly wreck, was critically injured, and a passenger in a third vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Investigators said if anyone has any information about the wreck, call the Florida Highway Patrol.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
