A teen and an elderly woman were critically injured when they were struck by vehicles in separate parts of Palm Beach County, Florida Highway Patrol said.
In the first incident, a 72-year-old woman was struck by a tractor-trailer in Delray, Florida Highway Patrol authorities said.
The woman was attempting to cross the street at an intersection when a large truck struck her as it was making a turn.
The woman suffered a severe leg injury and was taken to Delray Medical Center in a critical condition. The truck driver still remains on the scene of the incident and had not been charged with a crime at the time of the story.
Later in the day, a 15-year-old boy was also critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle in another area of Palm Beach County.
The child was also walking across the intersection of Davie Blvd and Wellington Ave. when he was hit the report said. The child was reported critical after the incident.
The driver in that incident also remained on scene and has not been charged. Law Enforcement officials said both crashes are still under investigation.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with tractor trailers are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
