A woman and her granddaughter were taken to the hospital after getting struck by a car in Martin County, witnesses and Florida Highway Patrol sources said.
The accident happened at NE Indian River Dr NE Causeway Blvd in Jensen Beach and the two victims were taken to a local hospital, police officials said.
“The woman was crossing the street with the baby and reached down to grab a water bottle and was hit by the car,” a law enforcement source said. “The baby had a gash to the head.”
One witness said he saw a female driver in a white car hit the woman and her granddaughter, who was in a stroller.
“I saw the man was passing by and making a right at the corner,” said a 27-year old man. “One woman was passing by with the carriage here, he was middle age and got hit.”
He added that he saw police officials and medics trying to attend to the victims.
The main cause of the crash is still under investigation according to law enforcement, and anyone with additional information concerning the crash is encouraged to contact the department as soon as possible.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
