A car slammed into barriers outside a house, injuring at least three pedestrians, police in Indian River County say. The male driver has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism, reports The Post. Witnesses saw officers surround the car before the man was taken away in handcuffs.
A car was in collision with barriers outside the house” the Indian River County Police said in a statement. Three people were taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. This would be the fourth vehicle attack in the County notes Florida Highway Patrol.
Witnesses say the crash, which involved a black tinted SUV, appears to have been deliberate. “I think it looked intentional the car drove at speed and towards the barriers,” a witness tells The Post. “I was walking on the other side of the road.
I heard some noise and someone screamed. I turned around and I saw a black SUV driving very fast close to the railings, maybe even on the pavement.” She says the vehicle didn’t appear to have a front license plate.
Another witness, a 30-year old employee of the post, says he heard screams and then saw the car plow into a group of cyclists waiting at a traffic light before accelerating toward the barrier.
After all information was received, the Florida Highway Patrol disclosed that the crash is still under investigation as the department is trying to determine if drugs or alcohol had a part to play in the crash.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Be especially careful when entering an intersection with many local business present. If you were involved in an accident due to someone else being distracted, call me for a free consultation so we can discuss your rights and what compensation you may be entitled to.”
