The Florida Highway Patrol have identified three out of the five people injured in a collision with a tractor-trailer in Hobe Sound in Martin County near Indiantown.
The driver of a Chevrolet Malibu lost control and crossed a double solid yellow line into the path of a semi tractor-trailer driven by a 53-year-old man of West Palm Beach, Florida, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol officials.
The collision between the two vehicles caused the Malibu to be torn in two. All four people in the car were critically injured at the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol officials are still trying to notify relatives of the drivers.
Following the collision with the Malibu the semi continued across the westbound lane and struck a metal guardrail, according to traffic investigators.
The driver of the semi was hospitalized in Martin County in serious condition.
Anyone with additional information concerning the accident is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with trucks are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
