Police chased a stolen car suspected in a carjacking that took place on Delray Beach from N Swinton Ave. to NE 2nd Ave. and ended in a crash at the side of NE 2nd Ave. as reported by Delray Police officials.
The Florida Highway Patrol officials saw the vehicle on Lake Ida Rd. near Delray Lakes Dr. and followed it, a Delray Police spokeswoman said.
The pursuit ended when the car crashed off NE 2nd Ave. close to SE 36th Ave.
The Delray Police reported four critically injured in the crash.
The carjacking happened outside of Delray Beach. Delray Police said information about the stolen car was still being gathered by investigators.
Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies, helicopter, and police dogs, along with deputies from the Broward County helped Delray Beach police.
The incident is still under investigation according to the Florida Highway Patrol stating that alcohol or drugs may have been involved. Anyone with relevant information should contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Driving the speed limit on Florida’s Highways isn’t just the law. It may save your life by keeping you from being in an accident. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
