A Broward County woman and her grandson were both seriously injured in a car accident in Palm Beach Gardens. Firefighters and the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
The accident occurred on Burns Rd close to N Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
Firefighters and the Palm Beach Sheriff Office said they arrived to find a 2008 Honda that had overturned after colliding with a semi tractor-trailer, trapping the adult female driver of the Honda who was identified as a 38-year-old woman of Broward County, along with her grandson.
The report states the vehicle overturned several times. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters immediately began working to extricate the victims.
The doors and roof were removed, allowing PBSO officials to safely remove the victims according to emergency responders at the scene.
A helicopter was called in to take the victims to Saint Mary’s Medical Center.
The driver of the semi and two passengers received non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
No charges were filed against the driver yet as the crash is under investigation by the Palm Beach Sherriff’s Office.
Anyone with additional information concerning the crash is asked to contact the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office or the nearest police station.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with tractor trailers are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
