Four people in a 2005 Lexus were injured in a crash on Interstate 95 that shut down the highway’s southbound lanes near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 41-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and three other passengers were taken to another local hospital. The Lexus was traveling south on I-95 when there was a tire blowout that caused the car to spin into the path of a 2015 Volvo semi truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said in its crash report.
The truck collided with the Lexus’s rear, according to the FHP. A 29-year-old man, who was driving the Volvo truck, was also injured in the crash.
According to the FHP, no southbound lanes are open and traffic is being diverted.
Officials have not yet revealed the name of the injured victims as investigations are still ongoing.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with tractor trailers are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
