A taxi jumped the curb at a busy Port Salerno bus stop, critically injuring a 12-year-old boy and a 33-year-old woman, Florida Highway Patrol Officials and witnesses said.
The driver of the yellow cab lost control on Port Salerno SW near Fox Brown RD in Martin County and drove into the crowd.
“The mother and her son were waiting at the bus stop,” said a witness. “The boy went sliding down the sidewalk from the impact.”
“I tried to give him CPR,’’ the witness added. When an ambulance arrived EMTs tried to revive the child.
Both the boy and the woman were fatally injured and transported to a local hospital in Jensen Beach, Martin County.
Another woman was critically injured. Three others suffered minor injuries.
Authorities withheld the names of the victims pending family notification. Anyone with additional information concerning the accident is asked to contact the FHP department.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
