A 31-year-old woman of Riviera Beach, remained at a local hospital in Palm Beach County, just days after a car wreck in that happened Delray Beach, according to a Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant.
The victim’s relative, who was in a Kia sedan, was involved in a wreck on SW 1st Ave. PBSO said the 31-year-old got out of her car to check on the relative. A 1998 Honda Civic driven by a 25-year-old man, of Broward County, was traveling south on SW 1st Avenue at the time, according to a news release from the PBSO.
PBSO said downpours in the area prevented the 25-year-old from seeing the Kia initially.
“He did not see it until the last second,” the Palm Beach Sheriff Office said.
PBSO officials said the 25-year-old had swerved to avoid the car, but instead sideswiped it and hit the 31-year-old in the process. The car rotated counter-clockwise before stopping.
Authorities said the 31-year-old landed behind the Kia after he was struck, suffering a leg injury.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office provided medical care to help stabilize the 31-year-old woman’s leg, according to the release.
The 25-year-old remained on the scene. FHP said charges in the crash are still pending.
Anyone with additional information relating to what may have triggered the crash is asked to contact the PBSO.
