BOCA RATON – 31-year-old Ashley Brock’s mom opened the door of her home west of Boca Raton and saw Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
“They came to the door and said, ‘Sit down,’ ” she recalled. “I was scared,” she said. “They say, ‘I am sorry to tell you this. Your daughter passed.’
“I started screaming. I almost died.”
Ashley Brock, 31, the mother of a 9-year old, had been struck and killed as she walked along State Road 7 west of Delray Beach, PBSO reports said.
“My daughter was a sweet angel,” Ashley’s mother said. “She was a good Christian. I know she’s in heaven.”
Ashley Brock had been a military child. She was born to her U.S. Army father and her Panamian mother in the canal zone, then held by the U.S., at the Panama Canal.
A short time later the family moved to Texas. Ashley went to high school in Davie, near Fort Lauderdale. She later lived in her mother’s home. Her father (the two had divorced) was in Texas.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report, Ashley Brock was in the roadway on State Road 7, near the entrance to Saturnia Isles, when she failed to yield to a 2013 Ford SUV driven by a 22-year old who lives in the neighborhood. She was struck and killed.
The 22-year old was not hurt, the report said. It said the 22-year old wore a seat belt and did not list alcohol or drugs as a factor.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Be especially careful when entering an intersection with many local business present. If you were involved in an accident due to someone else being distracted, call me for a free consultation so we can discuss your rights and what compensation you may be entitled to.”
