Woman Hits Pedestrian At W. 13th St. In Riviera Beach
One person was critically injured when a car struck him in Riviera Beach.
The young pedestrian, who is presumed to be in his twenties, was out jogging after staying home for some time due to COVID-19 stay home order.
He was near the curb when the car hit him. He was hurt in the crash, as well as the driver.
“The driver was lying on the street bleeding from her head,” one witness told the PBSO.
Police sources say the driver of the Volvo’s identity has not been confirmed, but report that her car was creeping forward at the intersection of Avenue F and W 13th St. in anticipation of the red light turning green when she accidentally hit the accelerator. It’s not clear whether the light was red or green when the car entered the crosswalk.
After the pedestrian was struck, the Volvo hit a signpost near W 13th St. before coming to a halt. The Post says PBSO did not hold the 30-year-old driver, but reports said she was taken into custody. She was also brought to a hospital after telling officers she has a medical condition.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Be especially careful when entering an intersection with many local business present. If you were involved in an accident due to someone else being distracted, call me for a free consultation so we can discuss your rights and what compensation you may be entitled to.”
