Port St. Lucie – Pedestrians Struck By Vehicle Near SW Gatlin Blvd
A 38-year-old woman and her daughter were injured in Port St. Lucie by a truck.
The accident happened on SW Gatlin Boulevard while the woman and her daughter were trying to cross the busy intersection. The driver had a green light and was heading eastbound on SW Gatlin Blvd in a truck.
Investigators said the driver was traveling on SW Gatlin Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle. The truck ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit the victims. Police public information officer said charges may be filed against the driver.
The victims, whose identities have not been released, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were hospitalized.
Police said the duo was taken to a hospital by emergency responders. Speed may have played a factor in the crash, police said.
This route is closed, causing traffic delays. Police said the roadway is not expected to reopen for several hours. Vehicles on this route are pulling to the roadside to allow crews to work. It is best to use alternative routes. Please drive with caution and stay safe.
