Woman, 44, Killed In Downtown West Palm Crash

WEST PALM BEACH — A 44-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed as she crossed a street near the federal courthouse in downtown West Palm Beach, police said.

She was crossing Banyan Boulevard near Sapodilla Avenue when she was hit, city police said.

The woman was struck on Banyan Boulevard near Sapodilla Avenue, near the U.S. District Court complex and the city police headquarters.

Witnesses told police they saw the woman cross into the path of a 2013 Toyota Camry driven by a female. The car had the right of way, the witnesses said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, not named, where she was pronounced dead. The driver, 60, was not hurt, police said. The agency said neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the wreck.

Police said both people were from the West Palm Beach area.

Comments:

Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash.  “A Hit-and-run is one of the worst type of accidents.  When that person that fled the scene is caught you have rights that are different then in a regular car crash.  Make sure you speak to a licensed professional about your rights”.
