Crash Shuts Down Part Of US 1 In Indian River County

GIFFORD, Fl — A crash shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 at 37th Street, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said.

Indian River County deputies, the Florida Highway Patrol, and fire crews are on scene.

Injuries were reported, but the extent of those injuries is unclear at this time, according to the sheriff’s office. Traffic heading west on 37th Street approaching U.S. 1 is being redirected back east.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash is still under investigation, as the police are still trying to determine if toxicity was the cause of the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol is urging those with relevant information concerning the crash to come forward.
