Belle Glade Man Killed In Early Morning Crash

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fl — A 45-year-old man was killed in an early-morning crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened on U.S. 98 eastbound, just west of Connors Highway.

Two vehicles were heading east on U.S. 98 on the inside lane approaching Connors Way when the driver of one of the vehicles, a 25-year-old woman, failed to observe the other vehicle slowing down to enter the crossover paved median, according to FHP. The 25-year-old driver rear-ended the vehicle causing it to spin onto the grassy center median. The vehicle came to a stop just east of the crossover median.

After the initial impact, the 25-year-old’s vehicle kept going off the main road towards the outside shoulder, where its front side crashed into the guardrail, the FHP said. The vehicle then kept going into the grassy center median before coming to a stop on the outside shoulder, about 600 feet east of where the collision happened.

The passenger from the other vehicle, a 45-year-old man from Belle Glade who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, according to FHP. The 48-year-old driver and his other passenger, a 44-year-old woman, only had minor injuries. The 25-year-old driver only had minor injuries as well.

The case is still pending an investigation. FHP is not releasing the names of those involved in the crash.
