Jensen Beach Man Killed In Tractor-Trailer Crash That Shut Down Turnpike In St. Lucie
FORT PIERCE, Fl — A 50-year-old man from Jensen Beach was killed in a crash that temporarily shut down the Turnpike, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes near mile marker 145, according to FHP. All the southbound lanes were blocked and traffic was diverted off exit 152 onto I-95.
A tractor trailer was heading south when the vehicle drifted into the inside lane and sideswiped a pickup truck, according to FHP. The driver of the tractor trailer lost control, hit the guardrail and overturned.
The driver died at the scene, according to FHP. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck, both from Pompano Beach, were not injured.
FHP is not identifying those who were involved in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Whenever you are behind the wheel of a car, please make sure you are paying attention to all road signs and signals. If you are in an accident where someone didn’t follow the posted signs or signals, please call me so that we can discuss your rights.”
