Man Dies In Boca-Area Roadway Crash After Car Crosses Lanes In Reverse
BOCA RATON — A man was found dead after his vehicle drove in reverse across several lanes of traffic on Yamato Road in suburban Boca Raton, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
The man had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound, PBSO said. It did not identify the man except to say he was older.
Deputies responded to the 8300 block of Yamato, just east of Florida’s Turnpike to a report of a crash.
Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle travel in reverse before stopping on the shoulder of the roadway. A bystander ran up to the vehicle to help the driver. The bystander broke a window and turned the vehicle off.
When deputies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue medics arrived, they found the driver dead, PBSO said. Deputies found no evidence to suggest his death was anything other than a suicide.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Whenever you are behind the wheel of a car, please make sure you are paying attention to all road signs and signals. If you are in an accident where someone didn’t follow the posted signs or signals, please call me so that we can discuss your rights.”
