Port St. Lucie Man Dead After Crash In Jensen Beach

JENSEN BEACH — One man in a pickup died when he crashed into a white sedan on U.S. 1, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Martin County Sheriff’s Office deputies said the incident happened near the 2900 block of Northwest U.S. 1.

The Port St. Lucie man, 50, was traveling north on U.S. 1 in the truck in the inside lane. A Jensen Beach man, 79, was traveling south on U.S. 1 in the outside lane, FHP said.

The pickup crossed over the raised median into the southbound lanes of traffic, FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes said.

It collided with the sedan head-on. Both vehicles came to a rest on U. S. 1 southbound in the outside lane, Reyes said.

The sedan driver had minor injuries, said Bethany Alex, spokeswoman for Martin County Fire Rescue.

The driver of the pickup was transported to Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital in Stuart, where he died, Reyes said.

FHP officials did not identify anyone in the crash.

This crash is still under investigation, Reyes said.
