PBSO: West Palm Man, 93, Dies After Crash Outside Royal Palm Beach Bank Drive-Thru
ROYAL PALM BEACH – A 93-year-old West Palm Beach man died six days after he raced out of a bank drive-thru in Royal Palm Beach and struck a tree, authorities said.
The man was injured as he drove his 2010 Lexus RX 350 out of a drive-thru lane at the PNC Bank branch at Okeechobee Boulevard and State Road 7, about 1½ miles from his home in the Baywinds neighborhood, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report said.
He drove through the lane at high speed, shot across all lanes of traffic on State Road 7, and struck a light pole, the report said.
He was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach where he died.
The victim’s daughter, who lived in New Jersey, could not be reached.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
