Driver Killed, Passenger Injured In Pickup Crash
LOXAHATCHEE GROVES — A driver was killed in a pickup crash involving another vehicle, causing his truck to go off a dirt road and into a canal in Loxahatchee Groves, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened at the intersection of North and F Roads in Loxahatchee Groves, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
The man was heading west on North Road in a Ford Edge with a passenger, according to a police report. Investigators say he was speeding prior to the crash.
His vehicle failed to stay in its lane west of F Road, driving off the road onto a small embankment and then landing in a canal containing several feet of water. The vehicle rolled over onto its roof, submerging the interior compartment.
EMS arrived at the scene of the crash. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene while the passenger was transferred to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigations are ongoing into to the cause of the crash. Drivers are advised to use alternate lanes.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with trucks are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
