FHP: One Killed After Tractor-Trailers Crash On I-95 In Boynton
BOYNTON BEACH — At least one person was killed in a crash involving three tractor-trailers on Interstate 95 by Gateway Boulevard, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.
All southbound lanes of Interstate 95 were blocked. A few hours later, all lanes had reopened, according to FHP.
The crash took place shortly before dawn after one tractor-trailer slammed into the rear of another, causing both vehicles to catch fire, FHP said. A crash report states that the tractor-trailer that was struck from the rear, and another truck ahead of it, had slowed down as they approached a construction zone.
The driver of the truck that caused the crash died at the scene but has not been identified, FHP said.
State authorities said hazardous materials were involved.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with tractor-trailers are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
