88-Year-Old Woman Dead After Crash In Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE— An 88-year-old Fort Pierce woman died after her car crashed into a truck, FHP reported.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said they were called to the scene of a wreck in the 5600 block of Emerson Avenue in Fort Pierce.

Troopers said the woman died during the crash.

The woman was driving a sedan south on Emerson Avenue when the tractor-trailer in front of her, driven by a 55-year-old Vero Beach man, slowed. Troopers said the woman was unable to slow down and crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer.

The man didn’t have any injuries, troopers said.

Troopers said the incident is under investigation. They did not identify those involved in the crash.
