Woman, 57, Dies After Turnpike Crash In Palm Beach Gardens
PALM BEACH GARDENS — A 57-year-old West Palm Beach woman died following a three-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike north of PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP did not name either the woman or the make or model of her sedan, citing a policy it adopted last year about withholding the identities of crash victims.
The wreck took place just after noon at mile marker 112 in the turnpike’s southbound lanes. Traffic was stopped, and two of the three vehicles stopped with it. The woman’s sedan did not, striking the rear of an SUV, then traveling southwest onto the road’s shoulder, FHP said.
The impact of the crash sent the SUV into the path of a second sedan and then into a concrete barrier on the side of the road.
The woman died at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FHP said.
The driver of the SUV, a 59-year-old woman from Pembroke Pines, sustained serious injuries. The driver of the second sedan, a 29-year-old man from Sunrise, had minor injuries.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
