Woman In Critical Condition After Vero Beach Crash
VERO BEACH — Police are looking into a crash that left two people injured, one of them critically, and closed a section of northbound lanes on U.S. 1 for hours.
A Vero Beach Police Department official said a white Ford Fusion and silver Chevrolet Silverado crashed in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 at 15th Place, near Verizon and AutoZone.
Sgt. Frank Adamski said a woman driving the Fusion was in critical condition, and a man driving the pickup was in stable condition.
Both were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, he said.
Adamski said both lanes of U.S. 1 were briefly closed, and northbound lanes were closed for hours while investigators documented the scene.
Northbound traffic was redirected east off U.S. 1 at 14th Street around the crash.
The Fusion had severe front-end damage, and the rear right side of the pickup and its tailgate were crumpled with debris from the rear of the truck strewn across the sidewalk.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
