Authorities In Search Of Second Car Involved In Fatal Bicycle Crash In St. Lucie County

ST LUCIE COUNTY — Troopers said they’re looking for a second vehicle involved in a recent bicyclist’s death.

A Fort Pierce man was killed along U.S. 1 at Harbor Branch Road after his bicycle was struck by a southbound vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 56-year-old man, who was not identified by FHP, was traveling southbound in a designated bike lane just before midnight when he “drifted into the right lane and (his) bicycle was struck by the right front side of a sedan-type vehicle”, reports stated.

FHP announced it was looking for a second vehicle, dark in color, which also struck the bicycle but did not stay at the scene.

On the night of the crash, troopers interviewed the driver who struck the bicyclist first.

Anyone with information about the second car can call Treasure Coast CrimeStoppers at 800-273-TIPS (8477).
