3-Dead In Three-Vehicle Car Crash In Belle Glade
A three-vehicle crash involving a car and two semis in Belle Glade has killed two people.
The crash was reported at 38000 State Road 80 near Sugar House Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi driven by a 54-year-old man of Ocala was eastbound on State Road 80 and struck the left side of a Mazda driven which was being driven by a man, 21, of South Bay, who was northbound on Sugar House Road.
The semi ended up in the westbound lanes in the path of a U.S. Mail tractor-trailer driven by a man, 54, of West Palm Beach. His rig veered off the road and burst into flames, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
“The cab of the second tractor trailer was completely destroyed. He was very fortunate to get out of the truck before it burst into flames,” a Florida Highway Patrol official said.
One driver was taken by helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center in serious condition.
Two of the drivers involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene.
Eastbound lanes on State Road 80 had been reopened. Westbound lanes also opened later.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles.
