Motorcycle Crash West Of Boca Raton Kills Broward Woman, 27
BOCA RATON — A 27-year-old Broward County woman died in a motorcycle crash in suburban Boca Raton, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Paramedics took the injured person to Delray Medical Center after the crash at Powerline Road and Southwest 18th Street near the Broward County border. The Lighthouse Point resident died there 45 minutes later, PBSO said.
According to PBSO’s crash report, a driver had stopped her Volkswagen Tiguan SUV at the intersection and was about to turn east onto Southwest 18th Street when she saw two northbound motorcycles entering the intersection.
One motorcycle avoided hitting the SUV but the Volkswagen did not, hitting its passenger side. The force of the crash threw her from the Suzuki GSX to the pavement.
The crash report did not indicate the speed at which the motorcycles were traveling at the time of the crash. It also did not indicate that the driver of the SUV was facing any charges.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this accident. “It is so important to be aware of motorcyclists on the road because of the severity of their injuries in accidents. There was a public service campaign that encouraged drivers to look left, right and left again just to provide added protection to motorcyclists. If you were injured in an accident and want to discuss your rights, please contact my office for a free consolation”.
