Truck Crashes Into Daycare In Sebastian
SEBASTIAN — A pickup truck crashed into a preschool and daycare center as parents waited in line to pick up children, a fire official said.
No one was injured and the driver was taken to Sebastian River Medical Center for an evaluation, said Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion, Chief Jamie Coleman.
“She was a little shaken up,” said Coleman.
The white Ford Ranger struck a daycare at 1088 Barber St. near the building entrance in the evening, he said.
He said “there were a lot of kids” still at the daycare, but none in the area of the building struck by the pickup.
The facility is a daycare and pre-kindergarten education center for children up to around 5 five years old, according to its website.
An Indian River County Fire Rescue official said no children or daycare staff members were injured when a Ford Ranger crashed into the Learning Nest at 1088 Barber St. in Sebastian.
“None of them were in that area of the building,” Coleman said.
He said one adult who was uninjured was in the room struck by the pickup.
He said he was unsure why the truck crashed into the building but it also struck another vehicle in the line outside before hitting the building wall and breaking a window.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Whenever you are behind the wheel of a car, please make sure you are paying attention to all road signs and signals. If you are in an accident where someone didn’t follow the posted signs or signals, please call me so that we can discuss your rights.”
