Man Died After A Crash On Midway Road
ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A 36-year-old Oakland Park man died after a traffic crash on Midway Road west of Interstate 95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened as a pickup traveled west on Midway Road which has one lane in either direction in the largely rural area.
The driver “for reasons unknown at this time” lost control, and the truck rolled over, the FHP stated. As the pickup rolled over, the driver was ejected and died at the scene. The driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to an FHP release.
FHP did not release the driver’s name.
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies blocked Midway Road between Eleven Mile Road and I-95. The road remained blocked for several hours.
A crushed pickup was on a trailer as at least two FHP vehicles were at the scene.
Reached through a deputy, a trooper at the scene declined to comment.
Messages left for Lt. Yanko Reyes, FHP spokesman, by reporters were not immediately returned.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
