Three-Vehicle Crash Kills Driver, 7-Year-Old In Okeechobee County
A three-vehicle crash in Okeechobee County killed a man and a 7-year-old child, authorities report.
Florida Highway Patrol said a pickup truck was traveling north on Northwest 192 Avenue while a sports vehicle and another pickup truck were driving south on Northwest 192 Avenue. The northbound truck hit the front-left side of the sports vehicle’s trailer and then the front-left side of the other pickup truck.
The northbound pickup truck came to a rest in a northwest direction, troopers said. The sports vehicle came to a stop on the west shoulder of the road facing the opposite direction it was going. The other pickup truck flipped onto its right side after the collision and came to a stop on the shoulder of the road facing the opposite direction it was going.
The driver, 27, and the passenger, 7, of the truck that overturned were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. The report showed the driver had not been wearing a seatbelt, but the child was at the time of the collision.
The investigation is pending.
