Ft. Pierce Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash On South Jenkins Road

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – A 55-year-old Fort Pierce man died in a single-vehicle crash off South Jenkins Road, highway officials said.

A red 2012 Mercedes Benz C250 went into a ditch and struck a culvert after the driver had what was described as an unknown medical problem, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The news release stated the car was traveling north in the 300 block of South Jenkins Road south of Orange Avenue when it went into the swale and struck the culvert sending it over a private driveway.

The car stopped north of the driveway facing northwest with front-end damage, FHP reported.

The man was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation into the crash is still underway.
