Man Killed In Three-Vehicle Crash On I-95 In Boca
A 63-year-old Miami man was killed and two other people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Boca Raton that closed travel lanes for hours.
The accident, which occurred on southbound I-95 just north of Glades Road, occurred just before noon, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.
FHP has not released the identity of the man or any of the others involved in the crash.
According to FHP, three vehicles — a sedan, a tractor-trailer and a van — were traveling south on I-95 when the sedan attempted to turn into the lane being used by the tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer hit the rear-left side of the sedan, was redirected southeast and sideswiped the van. After hitting the van, the tractor-trailer hit a concrete barrier.
The Miami man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the tractor-trailer where he was a passenger. He was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.
The driver of the sedan, a 37-year-old woman from Boynton Beach, was not hurt but two of her passengers, a 24-year-old woman and a Boynton Beach man whose age was not provided, suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 40-year-old Coral Springs man, was not injured nor was another passenger, a 26-year-old Fort Lauderdale man. The van’s driver, a 63-year-old West Palm Beach man, also was not injured.
The Miami man was the only person involved in the crash who was not wearing a seat belt, FHP said.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Whenever you are behind the wheel of a car, please make sure you are not being distracted by texting, talking on your phone or communicating with your passengers. If you are in an accident where someone didn’t follow the posted signs or signals, please call me so that we can discuss your rights.”
