Lake Worth Man Dies After Second Car Crash On Same Day
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.— A man from Lake Worth is dead after he crashed his car for a second time — on the same day.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office, a man, 47, initially was involved in a minor car accident on the 5400 block of South Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach.
After fleeing the scene, he once again crashed his vehicle — just 16 minutes later — after driving into a light pole at the 500 block of South Dixie Highway.
The driver drove his 2009 green Honda Accord’s driver’s side tires and rims into the concrete curb on the west side of Dixie Highway.
As he crossed Southwest Fifth Street, the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk, continued through the grass and struck a light pole. The pole then collapsed and drove head-on into a bus bench where the Accord came to a final stop.
The vehicle then caught on fire before BSO deputies arrived to extinguish the flame.
Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue transported the driver to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.
BSO Traffic Homicide detectives are handling this ongoing investigation.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
