Bus Crash In Fort Pierce Sends Ten Students To The Hospital For Observation

FORT PIERCE — A school official said 10 students were taken to a hospital after a car collided with a school bus.

There were no serious injuries, and the students were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute for observation, according to the St. Lucie Public Schools Chief Communications Officer.

“All students have been reunited with parents at the hospital and most have already been released,” said the communications officer in a prepared statement.

“All other students were cleared by medical personnel on scene and boarded another bus to school.”

She stated police officials are investigating the crash.

A St. Lucie County Fire District spokeswoman said firefighters were called to North U.S. 1 at Avenue O shortly after the crash.

The spokeswoman said, those transported to hospitals were taken by ambulance.

A Fort Pierce police spokeswoman said more information about the crash would be available later.
