Driver arrested after striking police car in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, FL – A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he intentionally struck a police vehicle in Boca Raton, Boca News Now reports. 

The accident occurred on northbound I-95 near I-595 around 1:30 a.m. An officer was parked in a construction zone with lights on to close a lane.

The suspect, who was driving a 2011 white Subaru Outback, drove through the cones and hit the police vehicle, causing major damage and leaving an officer with minor injuries.

The driver was arrested and claimed he hit the car on purpose because he wanted to go to jail. He did not show signs of intoxication.
