Driver fatally strikes pedestrian in Lake Worth Beach

LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL – A man was killed in Lake Worth Beach on Saturday after being struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross the street.

According to WPTV, the victim was attempting to cross South Dixie Highway, in the area of 10th Avenue South, but was not using a crosswalk when he was hit. Around 11:25 a.m. he was struck by a black pickup truck driving north on South Dixie Highway.

Although the driver attempted to brake, he was unable to avoid the collision. The driver then fled the scene, continuing northbound.

The victim was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
