Driver Injured After Crash In St. Lucie County That Critically Injured 3 Others

All lanes back open after a tractor-trailer crash injured the driver and created heavy delays on Interstate 95 southbound in St. Lucie County.

The wreck occurred in Port St. Lucie just before the Crosstown Parkway.

The Florida Highway Patrol said, the trailer driver, 31-year-old Jacob Evans of Florida, lost control for reasons unknown. The rig veered off of the paved travel lanes and drove onto the western grass shoulder.

The semi then collided with a Toyota Corolla. The tractor-trailer became fully engulfed as Jacob was trapped inside of the vehicle.

Jacob was critically injured according to officials at the scene.

Chopper 5 flew over the area and spotted a substantial amount of debris strewn across the grassy area along the shoulder of the interstate.

The Toyota Corolla had 3 passengers in it identified as a 26-year old Ryan Vince and two 1-year old toddlers. They were all rush to a nearby hospital. All were said to have sustain non-life threatening injuries.

All lanes are now back open. FHP is encouraging anyone with additional information concerning the crash to contact the FHP Department.
