Police have identified the struck pedestrian as 18-year-old Brian Hardy.

Authorities say, they were finally able to identify the teen while canvassing the neighborhood near the accident scene. They say Brian’s brother approached the police and gave them a description of what he was wearing when he had left the house.

His family told the police that Brian told them he was walking to McDonald’s.

Brian and his family had just moved to Port St. Lucie from Broward County and was not yet enrolled in the local school district.

The driver involved in the crash stopped and called 911. He is not facing charges.

An assistant police chief said, it was a very sensitive case, not knowing who the victim was.

“We may never know what happened because obviously we can’t talk to him and find out what his intentions were crossing the road. It appears he was standing in the middle of the road, in the median and it was just an unfortunate tragedy,” he said.

Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident resulting in a fatality.
