Father And Son Sustain Serious Injuries In Car Crash Along U.S. Route 27

A father from Indiantown and his 9-year old son sustained multiple injuries in a crash along U.S. Route 27 in South Bay.

Police are investigating a crash involving two vehicles that sent three people to the hospital along U.S. Route 27. A father and his 9-year-old son were among the injured survivors in the crash.

One of the vehicles was on fire when emergency services arrive. Firemen were spotted trying to rescue the injured victims and prevent an engine fire from escalating.

According to police , the 41-year-old father was traveling northbound on Route 27 in a white Toyota Avalon when a Volkswagen truck cut in ahead of him. The Volkswagen was approaching from the westbound lane of East Palm Beach Road when the Toyota rear ended him.

The impact of the crash ignited a flame in the engine of the Toyota which was damaged beyond recognition.

Luckily, Passers-by stopped to render assistance when they sighted the burning vehicle. They successfully evacuated the 41-year-old father and his son who was riding shotgun beside him. Firemen arrived the scene shortly after to arrest the flame and stop it from spreading.

Both father and son sustained multiple injuries including fractures and were rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The driver of the Volkswagen truck sustained minor injuries in the crash and was complaining of severe pain in his torso region, he was taken to the hospital to check for internal injuries.

No charges have been filed yet, police are still investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
