FHP: 6-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured In South Indian River Drive Crash

ST LUCIE COUNTY — A 6-year-old boy was critically injured after investigators said he ran in front of a northbound vehicle on South Indian River Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in the 6200 block of South Indian River Drive, which is south of East Midway Road, according to Lt. Yanko Reyes, FHP spokesman.

The 6-year-old boy, who is from Fort Pierce, was crossing the street westbound, Reyes said. The child “ran in front of a dark blue (Toyota) Camry that was traveling in the northbound lanes,” Reyes said in an email.

The Toyota was driven by a 63-year-old Port St. Lucie man.

The boy was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach where he was in critical but stable condition, Reyes said.

Comments:

Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving.  “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles.  If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
