FHP Identifies Two Of Three People Killed In Semi Collision Near Indiantown

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has identified two of the three people killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer on State Road 710 in Martin County near Indiantown.

The driver of a Chevrolet Malibu lost control and crossed a double solid yellow line into the path of a semi driven by a 47-year-old man of Lacoochee, Florida, according to reports from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol officials.

The collision between the two cars caused the Malibu to be torn in two. All three people in the car died at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office have identified two of the passengers as a woman, 23, and a child, 4, both of Arcadia.

PBSO and the Florida Highway Patrol officials are still trying to notify relatives of the driver. Investigators would only say he was a 22-year-old-man.

Following the collision, the Malibu the truck continued across the westbound lane and struck a metal guardrail, according to traffic investigators.

The 47-year-old driver of the semi was hospitalized in Martin County in serious condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol says investigators have not yet determined what caused the driver of the Chevrolet to lose control.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office suspects either drugs or alcohol may have had a major part to play in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
