FHP Seeks Vehicle In Fatal Palm Spring Hit-And-Run That Killed A Man
PALM SPRINGS – Authorities are looking for a vehicle that struck and killed a 38-year-old West Palm Beach man near Palm Springs, then drove off.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a vehicle was westbound on Lake Worth Road near Congress Avenue just before midnight when a man tried to run across the road.
The vehicle moved over a lane, but the pedestrian kept running and was struck.
The impact threw the man into the center lane, where a pickup hit him. The pickup stopped, but the other vehicle drove off, the report said.
The pedestrian was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he was pronounced dead.
FHP neither described the vehicle nor named the man in its news release.
The 50-year-old man who was driving the pickup and the 52-year-old woman who was a passenger were not hurt. FHP also did not name them but said both are from the Royal Palm Beach area.
Anyone who saw the crash or knows about the vehicle that fled should call FHP.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “A Hit-and-run is one of the worst type of accidents. When that person that fled the scene is caught you have rights that are different then in a regular car crash. Make sure you speak to a licensed professional about your rights”.
