FHP: Three-Vehicle St. Lucie County Crash Leaves One Man Dead, Five Seriously Injured

ST LUCIE COUNTY — One man is dead and five others were seriously injured after a three-vehicle crash in St. Lucie County.

The crash happened when a sedan driving eastbound on Southeast Walton Road suddenly crossed the roadway’s center line for unknown reasons and struck two vehicles, according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Yanko Reyes.

The sedan, driven by a man of unknown age with three passengers, collided with a sports utility vehicle and pickup truck moving westbound on Southeast Walton Road, Reyes said.

The male sedan driver was pronounced dead on the scene and the three passengers also in the car all sustained “serious” injuries, according to an FHP release.

The three seriously injured passengers in the Sedan that swerved across Southeast Walton Road are a 24-year-old Poinciana woman, a 24-year- old Okeechobee man and a 26-year-old woman with an unknown hometown.

Driving westbound in the sports utility vehicle, a 33-year-old Fort Pierce man was struck by the swerving sedan, according to FHP officials. His injuries are also serious.

Also moving in that same direction was a pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old Port St. Lucie man, Reyes said. His vehicle was then also struck by the eastbound sedan, leaving him with serious injuries. A 28-year old man, also from Port St. Lucie, suffered minor injuries.

The crash is still awaiting an investigation and no other information was made immediately available, according to FHP. None of the drivers or passengers have been identified yet.
