FHP Truck Hits 45-Year-Old Leaving Him With Trauma

An elderly man was mowed down by a Florida Highway Patrol truck , Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The 45-year-old man was crossing Third Avenue near 96th Street with a cane when the FHP truck struck him while it was turning. A witnesses said the pedestrian had the light.

“The driver wanted to keep going, people had to tell him to stop,” said a 33-year-old witness. “People were yelling please stop, please stop.”

An eyewitness took out the man’s dentures because he was struggling to breathe and blood gushed out, the witness added.

A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said, an ambulance took the pedestrian to a hospital in Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County with trauma.

Before the crash, witnesses said the man had been looking at rugs, food, and oils being sold by vendors.

His shopping bag and a sneaker were left at the crash scene among blood stains.

Florida Highway Patrol officials did not immediately release whether there is any criminality suspected in the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol also said, the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but didn’t disclose if the FHP sergeant driving the truck will be charged or not.
