Florida Highway Patrol officer struck by DUI suspect, hospitalized

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A Florida Highway Patrol officer was hospitalized after being struck by a DUI suspect on Wednesday morning.

According to WPTV, the accident occurred on the Atlantic Avenue exit from the northbound Turnpike around 8 a.m.

The officer was parked on the right shoulder when a woman in a Hyundai Venue veered off the highway and struck the rear of the officer’s vehicle.

The officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe the driver may have been intoxicated.
