Four People Have Been Injured After 32-Year-Old Man Triggered Vehicle Crash
An unlicensed driver caused a fatal four-car crash in Martin County and was arrested after fleeing the scene, police and the Florida Highway Patrol said.
A 32-year-old was driving a SUV in the left lane of NW Jensen Beach Blvd, when he crossed over the double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a 2014 Honda SUV being driven by a 69-year-old man, according to FHP authorities.
The 32-year-old then accelerated south in the northbound lane, where he crashed head-on with a 1995 Toyota sedan driven by a 33-year-old Delray Beach resident, police officials said.
The Toyota then veered into the path of a fourth vehicle, a 2013 Honda SUV driven by a 26-year-old woman.
The 32-year-old allegedly abandoned his car and fled, but returned shortly thereafter and was arrested, police said.
He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and criminal possession of a controlled substance, for allegedly being in possession of marijuana and unidentified pills. The 32-year-old also received a violation for driving with a revoked license, police said.
The 33-year-old woman and the 32-year-old woman were rushed to Delray Medical Center. Two other victims had severe injuries.
