Four People Injured In A Multiple Vehicle Accident on Florida’s Turnpike Near Fort Pierce

A tractor trailer hauling mulch crashed on Florida’s Turnpike near Fort Pierce, closing all southbound lanes.

The accident which happened south of Orange Avenue involved four vehicles, including a semi. Four people were injured in the accident, according to reports.

According to the St. Lucie Fire District, the semi rolled over on top of another car. Two victims, a man and a woman, were transported to the hospital in serious life-threatening conditions. Two other men suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

First emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. The four victims have been transported to the hospital. Two are stable while the other two are in critical condition at the hospital. The identities of the victims are yet to be disclosed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike are back open following the incident. The Florida Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the wreck.

An official report issued by the St. Lucie County Fire District stated that:

“Crews responded to an early-morning MVC rollover involving 2 vehicles in the SB lanes of the turnpike just south of Orange Ave. The call came in at 5:11 AM. Prior to arrival, a tractor-trailer hauling mulch rolled over on top of another car. Four total vehicles involved- 4 patients: 1 female and 1 male transported by ground to local trauma hospital in serious condition, 2 males transported by ground with non-life-threatening injuries. FHP is investigating”
